On Sunday, July 8, 2001, the New York Tibetan Alliance presented a huge Tibetan festival in Battery Park, New York City. The event included demonstrations of Tibetan arts and crafts, such as carpet weaving, woodblock printing, and the sacred arts of sand mandala and butter sculpture. It also offered performances of sacred music, Tibetan folk music and dance, and exhibits on Tibetan art and medicine, as well as information about the current situation in Tibet, and an exotic bazaar of Tibetan merchandise.
